What is KII?

Kairos Internship Initiative is a ten-month cohort experience where we invite recent graduates to engage their call to ministry through on-campus placement that provides practical experience, intentional theological reflection, and vocational discernment.

Who is eligible?

Recent college graduates (less than three years removed) with a completed Associate's or Bachelor's degree looking to pursue a call to ministry and/or commit to an intentional gap year

Where might I be placed?

Host sites for 2020-21 year could include: William & Mary, Longwood University, JMU, VCU, Virginia Tech; If called, you will be placed at one of these host sites.

What is the length of this program?

By accepting this call, you are committing to a full academic year (August 2020-June 2021).
 

Are housing options included?

Housing options will be specific to the host site. Some hosts may be able to offer fully covered housing, others may include a stipend to be put towards housing expenses.

Will I be paid for this position?

Participants will receive a monthly stipend. They are required to fundraise a portion of this stipend, approximately $1,000 per month (a total of $10,000 for the program year).

When are applications due?

Applications submitted before April 15, 2020 will have priority. If there are remaining positions available, applications will be accepted through May 1st, 2020.

Who should write my letters of recommendation?

In addition to the application form and professional resumé, a complete application packet should include two letters of recommendation from individuals who have recently and regularly observed the applicant in a ministry setting or a professional work setting. Letters should not be completed by any family member of the applicant.

When are KII interns selected?

Interviews will be scheduled upon receiving completed applications and ministerial letters of recommendation. After successfully completing the first round of KII interviews, the applicant will be referred to potential host sites to be interviewed directly with the Host Site Supervisor. Selected applicants will be called to serve based on the shared decision of the Host Site Supervisor and KII Action Team.
